Descending Sacajawea
This is my favorite high mountain meadow. It is a lush interlude on the descent of the West face of Mt. Sacajawea. One of the great beauties of the mountains I think is the balance between serene beautiful moments in nature, with the constant awareness of your own mortality, and the simplest things required to live; like breathing, drinking, eating, and not succumbing to gravity in one form or another! The moments in the mountains that require all your skill and attention to maintain your existence, just to do a simple thing like move five feet, provide clarity to the blissful moments when you realize you are completely enveloped in the beauty of nature and this incredible planet! That balance makes it all the more beautiful in my opinion.
